Fighting that intensified across Yemen in recent weeks is limiting humanitarian access and adding pressure to a health system already weakened by years of conflict, aid agencies said in a Reuters report dated 14 October.

The World Food Programme said around 800,000 people in Yemen were beyond its reach. In Taiz, where access has been disrupted, the agency said flour stocks were nearly exhausted. More than 600,000 people in the city depend on assistance, including over 200,000 children.

At al-Thawra Hospital in Taiz, the head of its kidney centre told Reuters that dialysis supplies could last roughly two weeks. A shipment scheduled from Aden had not arrived amid the security situation. The International Committee of the Red Cross said some frontline hospitals had admitted more than 700 casualties in a single week and faced shortages of surgical supplies, oxygen and medicines.

The figures describe a rapidly changing humanitarian picture, not a nationwide count of functioning facilities. The agencies called for safe access for aid workers and patients; the linked report contains their latest accounts and the limitations on medical care.
